Sulfuric Acid Production Plant:

Sulfuric acid is one of the most important compounds made by the chemical industry. It is used to make, literally, hundreds of compounds needed by almost every industry. By far the largest amount of sulfuric acid is used to make phosphoric acid, used, in turn, to make the sulfate and phosphate fertilizers and etc, also is used widely in metal processing. In the contact process, purified sulfur and air are burned and mixed to generate sulfur dioxide and cooled to about 450°C in waste boiler, then pass from 4 catalyst (pentoxide vanadium) bed. Sulfur dioxide is oxidized to make sulfur trioxide in this step. Produced sulfur trioxide is cooled by two heat exchanger in after each bed and pass from two towers. In the first and second tower sulfur trioxide reacts with circulated sulfuric acid to produce more sulfuric acid with 98% purity. Waste gases are usually discharged into the atmosphere with minimum emission.
